I finished them at 10 past 3, did 10 bunches of beetroot and then went down to the yard with Andy to wash and pack stuff. When I got home my cup of tea as waiting for me. I had a bath and then cooked dinner. We had jacket potatoes, runner beans, cauliflower and salmon. I have to work again tomorrow.

Tuesday.

We both managed to lay in bed till 6.30 so we were pleased. We had our breakfast and a coffee then I dressed and dusted downstairs. We watched a bit of news and I read a chapter of my book. We then got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. I ate a banana before we left and we rode along the track to Cawston to visit H's brother but when we arrived he wasn't in. We didn't mind because we only went on the off chance and it gave us a lovely ride. Just over 29 miles. When we got back we had a coffee and a pot noodle, a quick shower and then we went to pick up a parcel from the post office, on to the garden centre to buy a fusha for our elephant hawk moth caterpillar to munch on and then to the chemist for my pills. While I was there I popped into the shop next door for 2 ice creams. When we came back we watched the bike race which ended in Tarragona Spain where we have been many times. For dinner tonight we had spaghetti bolognese which was tasty.

Monday.

I had to get up at 4 again with an upset stomach! I decided I will have to go to the Doctors. I asked H to make me an appointment because by 7am I was empty so I thought I would go to work.
I had to pick 15 bunchese  of beetroot, 24 bunches of carrots, 50 bunches of radishes and 60 spring onions. After that I spent the rest of the day weeding again. I have to go again on Wednesday. When I got home H said the Doctor was going to ring me at 4.30. We had a long chat and he said it could be my blood pressure medication and I have to stop taking it for 2 weeks and see what happens. I had a cup of tea and a bath. Then dinner, tomatoes, potato wedges, mushrooms, fried bread and eggs. I will have to keep taking my blood pressure,I hope it doesn't go up.

Sunday

Yesterday we went shopping as usual, came back, unpacked etc and had a coffee. I hung out my washing and H put the ironing board up for me so I got on with that. He found a ride on zwift he thought he would do so when I had finished the ironing I vacuumed all downstairs and washed up all the big stuff. When H finished we had cheese and biscuits for lunch with pickle. In the afternoon I sat and read while H watched rubbish on tv. At 3 pm we got ready to go to our daughter and son in law's for a B B Q. We had a glass of champagne as soon as we arrived to celebrate our daughter getting the all clear for another year from breast cancer. Our youngest granddaughter was there and we also our grandson and his partner so that was nice. The meal was delicious and it was great to catch up on all the gossip. Today I stripped the bed as soon as I got up and put it all in the washing machine. I had my breakfast and then H made us a coffee and I hung out the washing.H went up for another ride and I baked a batch of raspberry buns which turned out well. I then got ready to go out on my bike on my own. I rode 20.5 miles. I hadn't wanted to go but H got my bike out of the garage for me so I felt obliged to use it. When I got out there I was so glad I went I really enjoyed it. We had a fried egg sandwich for lunch and I got my washing in, all dry. I have put it all back on the bed. For dinner we had Spanish chicken, runner beans and potatoes with lemon cheesecake for pudding. There is a lot of rubbish on tele tonight but I am going to watch Matilda at 6.55 because I have never seen it.

Friday

I got up at 6 and put on a load of washing. I had my breakfast and after I had hung out the washing we had a coffee. I sat and read 2 chapters of my book, did a bit of clearing up and then we got ready to go out on our bikes. We did the same ride as we did on Tuesday but we did it so much faster!! We knocked 10 minutes off our time, we will really struggle to beat today's record. One of the things that helped was the state of the track and the amount of people using it. There were hardly any dog walkers or joggers and only a few other cyclists. When we got home we had cheese and biscuits with cheese and pickle for lunch and a cup of coffee. All my washing got dry yet again so tomorrow I will get all the ironing before the day warms up too much. For dinner tonight we had pork chops, with mashed potato, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli with gravy. We are looking forward to tomorrow because we are going to our daughters for a bar b q.

Thursday

I got up at 5.50 and felt fine so after I had put on my usual load of washing, had my breakfast and packed my lunch. I made the bed and dressed but I couldn't hang the washing out because it was pouring with rain. I went to work and they were actually pleased to see me! but only because they were so busy. I had to pick 52 bunches of radishes first then 65 spring onions. After that I had to pick another 60 bunches of radishes, 20 golden beetroot and 60 purple ones ( bunches). I just had time  to trim 1 box of leeks and another 40 spring onions before going to the greenhouse to spend the rest of the day picking tomatoes. I was in there for 3 hours and it was boiling hot!! When I got home I had a soak in the bath and a cup of tea. For dinner tonight we had chicken curry and I had a glass of wine ( H had his last night). But I saved the best bit of news till last 😊My Daughter had her yearly cancer check up and has the all clear for another year. It must be such a weight off her mind. No more work for me till Monday.

Wednesday

When I went to bed last night I had only been there a couple of minutes when I had to get up and use the toilet. After the third time I gave up and took my pillow downstairs and laid on the sofa. I was up and down all night so I had to ring my boss and tell him I couldn't go in today. I kept feeling sick but I wasn't. I didn't have any breakfast but I had a roll with marmite for lunch and for dinner tonight we had a jacket potato, cod in breadcrumbs and chick peas. I did a load of washing and got it dry and sat in the garden for a while this morning but it wasn't really warm enough so I gave up. I think it was better this afternoon but I couldn't be bothered to go out again.

Tuesday, 15 August 2017

Tuesday

I got up with a headache again! I think it's when I do a lot of weeding, I am bent over the whole time. It's ok if I just do it for a couple of hours but yesterday I was weeding from 11.10 till 3.50. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I hung the washing out and then just sat about till my headache eased up I made the bed and and flicked a duster about a bit until H said we should get ready to go out on our bikes. We went to Reepham along the track and then home again, it was 23.5 miles so enough for us to say we had our exercise. When we got back I made us a coffee while H hosed the bikes down. After we had showered we went to drop my prescription at the Doctors so I can get a repeat, then to the chicken farm for eggs and finally to the chop for a French stick πŸ₯– and a packet of ham which we had for lunch with a glass of wine. For dinner tonight we had rump steak, fried red onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and potato wedges, it was yummy. My headache disappeared while we were riding which was great.

Monday, 14 August 2017

Monday

I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed 2 cheese and cucumber sandwiches with 8 sun gold tomatoes and a bottle of water. When the washing was done I hung it out and made the bed. At 7.25 I went to work, the traffic was dreadful due to all the road closures in our area and I just made it with a minute to spare. I had to pick 25 bunches of radishes, 36 bunches of beetroot, 24 bunches of carrots and then 100 bunches of spring onions with Andrew. When he left I had to pick another 60 bunches of onions and then weeding. Andy only worked 2 hours because he had a hospital appointment. They gave him an injection in his knee and another in his buttock. He won't be back to work till Wednesday. For tea tonight we had 2 eggs with baked beans on toast because I forgot to get anything out of the freezer. I am not needed at work till Wednesday so I will get some housework done tomorrow.

Sunday, 13 August 2017

Sunday

I managed to stay in bed till 6.30 then I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. We had a coffee and I hung the washing out. I sat for ages and finished the book I was reading and then I listened to the Archers omnibus before getting ready to go out on my bike. I didn't feel like going far, in fact I didn't feel like going out at all. So I decided to take a bag and and go on the hunt for some blackberries. I found a nice quiet country lane where there were loads. I biked 13.7 miles and when I arrived back I washed the blackberries and started off some blackberry whisky. H rode on his turbo doing 100 k average 22.2 miles an hour. (63miles ). We had a fried egg sandwich for lunch with a cup of coffee. We then watched a cycle race and I knitted at the same time. We had a glass of wine and for dinner tonight we had a fish pie with cauliflower cheese. Our daughter asked if we would like to go to theirs for a B B Q next Saturday ( weather permitting ) so we have that to look forward to, I hope the weather is good enough. Well it's work for me again in the morning and the boss says we will be very busy because Andy has a hospital appointment at 11.30 so won't be with us for long. At least when we are busy the day flies past.

Saturday, 12 August 2017

Saturday.

I got up at 5.50 and put on a load of washing. We had our breakfast, then I emptied the dishwasher that we had put on overnight and dressed ready to go shopping. After Asda we went to M&S food hall for a ' meal deal ' and fish pies etc. Lastly to Tescos for milk. H made us a coffee while I unpacked and put everything away. After my coffee ( and cream horn ) ( we didn't know you could still get them, haven't seen any for years ) I hung out the washing. After I had made the bed and tidied the bedroom I swept the kitchen floor and vacuumed downstairs then I sat down for a bit and read my  book because my legs are a bit stiff after yesterday's ride. For lunch we had a cheese sandwich, I also had cucumber in mine but H doesn't like it. We had a coffee with it and some sun gold tomatoes. We watched a cycle race this afternoon and then I had a shower and cooked dinner. We had chicken with roast potatoes, cauliflower and runner beans with strawberry trifle for pudding, a cup of tea and a glass of wine. H spent some time in the garage changing his single speed bike into one with gears. My washing is all nice and dry again.

Friday, 11 August 2017

Friday.

I went to bed with a headache and woke up with it this morning! I also felt a bit sick. I did my usual load of washing but apart from that I just sat about doing nothing much. I hung the washing out and H went into the garage to get the bikes out. I really didn't want to go but i got ready anyway. Well thank goodness i did the further we went the better i felt. We rode on and off road and did 47 and a bit miles. It was hard work. He sun shone all the way round and it was lovely. We had an ice cream at Wroxham station and a packet of crisps with a coffee at Aylsham station. When we got home i got my washing in, had a bath and washed my hair, then i cooked dinner. Pork slices, tomatoes, cauliflower, potato wedges and a fried egg. We were so hungry. I also opened a bottle of wine. I have had cramp in my legs a couple of times since getting home.

Thursday, 10 August 2017

Thursday.,

I put on a load of washing as soon as I was up and then had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, made my bed, hung out the washing and went to work. I had to do 45 bunches of radishes, 40 bunches of spring onions, 6 bunches of golden beetroot, 22 bunches of purple beetroot, 11 bunches of purple carrots, 48 bunches of orange ones, then 3 boxes of loose carrots. Andy came and picked it and me up  and we went to the yard to wash and pack everything. We then had lunch and I had the luxury of eating mine in the shed with the men. After that I had to pick 2 trays of tomatoes and then spend the rest of the day weeding. I don't have to go again till Monday. For dinner tonight we had smoked haddock, jacket potatoes and baked beans. The forecast for tomorrow is looking a bit better so we hope to go out on our bikes in the afternoon.

Wednesday, 9 August 2017

Wednesday

I stayed in bed till 7.15 and then had my breakfast. It was far too wet to go out on my bike and H was having his Spanish lesson so I got him to give me a lift to the City. It was a bit disappointing because I wanted some special wool, we had looked on line and the only place to get it locally was John Lewis. But they didn't have any!! Well they had one 50 gram ball. This means I will have to go back to Sheringham, they have it in a nice little wool shop there that sells it. I had a wander round the clothing department because I want some ideas for a nice wedding outfit. I won't need it till next year but I like looking. I bought us each a sausage roll and a Belgium bun for our lunch and I sat and knitted all afternoon. For dinner tonight I made a cottage pie which turned out nice. I kept waiting for my boss to ring and tell me it will be too wet for me to work tomorrow but no such luck.

Tuesday, 8 August 2017

Waste of a day!

We carefully watched the weather forecast yesterday evening and decided it was going to be too wet to do the long cycle ride to Wroxham that we had planned. When I got up just after 6am I looked out of the window and we had had a bit of rain overnight but it looked quite bright. Anyway we didn't change our minds so after a coffee H brought his computer downstairs and got on with his Spanish homework ready for his lesson tomorrow. I just sat and read my book. We had corned beef sandwiches with tomatoes for lunch and then I went outside and worked in the garden. H came out and cut the front lawn. I have filled my brown garden rubbish bin again. I came in again at 3.30 and got on with some knitting. At 4.30 my boss rang to say it was too wet for me to go to work tomorrow!!!! I didn't know what he was talking about! We hadn't ( at that time ) had a drop of rain and we are only about 5 miles from my work as the crow flies! However it is raining here now and when we watched the news there has been rain all over the place and if we had gone out on our bikes we would have been soaked. We had cod in a mustard sauce for dinner with runner beans, courgette, carrots and new potatoes.

Monday, 7 August 2017

Monday

Same breakfast, packed same lunch, did same washing and hung it out and went to work. I had to do 54 bunches of radishes, 240 bunches of spring onions with Andrew and when he left I had to do another 70 bunches. After that a box of loose carrots and 2 dozen bunches. By the time we had done all that it was 1.25 so a very late lunch. Andy and I washed everything and then I picked a tray of tomatoes before spending the rest of the day pricking out fennel and lettuce into the field. For dinner tonight we had egg fried rice with chicken, onions, courgette, mushrooms and peas. It was nice. No work tomorrow and H and I were hoping for a long cycle ride but the forecast is for lots of rain.

Sunday, 6 August 2017

Sunday.

I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing. H was already up and had made the tea. I had my breakfast with  and when the washing was done I hung it out. We had a coffee and both sat and read for a while. H was going to ride upstairs this morning so I went out on my own. First I went out to pick some Myra Bella's, I didn't want to make any more jam or gin, I just wanted enough so I can take a few to work each day to eat with my lunch, I love them. I brought them back home and put them in the fridge and went back out for a ride on my bike. I just did a roundabout ride to the crab house and bought 2 crabs for our lunch. For lunch we had a crab salad, it was nice. I hard boiled 2 eggs, and made some potato salad with cold cooked potatoes and chives from the garden. We also had lettuce, tomatoes, sliced red onion , cucumber and of course the crab. I sat in the garden and ate mine, the sun was lovely. We had a roast dinner, chicken, potatoes, cabbage, carrots and batter puds. No 1 son rang this morning, they are all well and have been going out on their bikes. Tomorrow I have to go back to work 😩

Saturday, 5 August 2017

Saturday.

We both got up at 6am and had toast and tea for breakfast. We then got ready and went shopping. When we arrived back H made us a coffee while I unpacked and put everything away. He got our bikes out of the garage and changed all 4 of our tyres over from our smooth to our knobbly ones because we were going ' off road '. We planned to do 23 miles but we had only gone about 4 when we felt a few spots of rain. We carried on but it began to get worse so we stopped, put our waterproof jackets on and turned back. In the end we only rode 13.5 miles but as it was off road it was a good workout and took us an hour and two minutes so we had our exercise. When we got back we had an instant coffee and for lunch cheese and biscuits with a slice of fruit cake. This afternoon H went into the garage to do a bit more clearing up and sorting out rubbish. I had a shower and then sat and knitted. For dinner tonight we had pizza and runner beans, potatoes and carrots tossed in butter. It was strawberries and ice cream for pudding. We had a cup of tea to wast it all down. I forgot to say that we had a glass of wine around 3.30 !!! We had a phone call from no 2 son who had just landed in France, and a phone call from our daughter who had had her yearly car boot sale. She was pleased with how it went.

Friday, 4 August 2017

Friday

I got up at 6, H said we had to lay in bed till 7 but I just got fed up laying there. He could only manage to stay there till 6.30! We had our breakfast and a coffee, I put on a load of washing and when it was done I hung it out.  Then I washed the cloakroom floor etc, and cleaned the kitchen. H made a loaf of bread which has turned out well. He got our bikes out of the garage and at 9.20 we got ready to cycle over to see his second youngest brother who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was surprisingly chearfull. He is waiting for a letter from the specialist to hear what will happen next. When we got back we had cream crackers and cheese for lunch with an instant coffee and then our daughter came round to pick up a few things for a car boot sale she is going to tomorrow. H found a cycle race to watch and we had a glass of wine. For dinner tonight we had quiche with potato wedges and mushrooms. My washing is all lovely and dry again and smells of fresh air.

Thursday, 3 August 2017

Thursday

I went to bed at 11.30 last night and didn't wake up till 6.03 this morning.!! I made a pot of tea, and had a cup with a slice of toast. I packed 2 cheese and cucumber sandwiches for my lunch with my bottle of water, dressed, made the bed, took some chicken out of the freezer for dinner tonight and went to work. First I had to pick 90 bunches of radishes then join Andrew on spring onions where we had to have 110 bunches. After that I moved to carrots to dig up and bunch 120 bunches, Andy joined me before I had finished so we managed to get them done before lunch. My sandwiches were nice, the cucumber is one our daughter in law grew and is really sweet and juicy. I then had to go to beetroot and do 20 bunches of golden ones and then bunch purple ones till 1.45 when I had to go to the greenhouse to pick tomatoes. I did that till hometime and picked 9 trays. When I got home our daughter rang, she is coming round tomorrow afternoon. We had pasta for dinner with chicken, fried onions, mushrooms, courgette and tomatoes in a white wine sauce, it was nice. The wind was awful today, i spent a lot of the day in a dust cloud and came home filthy and also worn out. I shall sleep well tonight.

Tuesday.

I got up at 5.40 and just read till heard H moving about then I made a pot of tea and we had breakfast. A little later we had a coffee and then I dressed and did a bit of housework. H made a loaf of bread and I made the bed. He then took our bikes out of the garage and changed our knobbly tyres for our smooth ones. It is because the track is so muddy so we decided to do a road ride for a change. It was hard work because the wind was so strong and seemed to be all over the place. Anyway we enjoyed the ride and it made a nice change. When we got back we had an instant coffee, a ham and mustard sandwich with sungold tomatoes. This afternoon we watched a cycle race and then I showered and cooked dinner. We had cod in a mustard and horseradish sauce with new potatoes, runner beans and carrots. I have to work again tomorrow. I packed myself 2 beetroot and cucumber sandwiches with some cherry tomatoes, made the bed, dressed, hung out the washing and went to work. I had to pick 10 bunches of golden beetroot,25 bunches of radishes and then 160 bunches of spring onions with Andrew. We had finished this by 10.20 and I had to spend all the rest of the day weeding. It was a long day because I had forgotten my ' walkman' ! I had also forgotten my phone! When I got home I had a cup of tea and a bath, then I thought I would check my phone but I couldn't find it ! We searched the house out and I was getting ready worried when H remembered that I had taken a different bag out yesterday w hitch I had put upstairs in a wardrobe, which was why we couldn't hear it when H rang it.we had burgers for dinner tonight with 2 eggs, fried tomatoes and oven chips.yummy.
This evening we had some very sad news, H has a brother Philip who is in his sixties and has been told he has cancer of the pancreas. Poor Phil used to have a job that meant he spent a lot of time up ladders. He fell from a great height and got serious brain damage, he was in a comer for weeks and has a metal plate in his head. After that he was never the same again but he has always so happy and content and lives in sheltered accommodation.
I have to go to work again on Wednesday so tomorrow H and I are going out on our bikes, weather permitting, he is going to put our smooth tyres on and we are doing a ' road ride' .

After my coffee I got on with all my ironing, made the bed and cleaned the kitchen. H then rode 50 miles on his turbo trainer while I went out to pick some Myra Bella's. It was really dull while I was doing that so it was all I was going to do but while I was out the sun appeared so I took them home and went back out for a ride. I did a roundabout ride to the crab house and bought 2crabs for our lunch. This afternoon I made some more jam and also started off 2 jars of Myra Bella gin. It should be just nice by Christmas. I read a chapter of my book and also did a few rows of my knitting before getting dinner. We had pork with new potatoes, broccoli, carrots and peas. H bought himself a pair of short wellies and I also went to sew simple for a ball of wool. On the way back we went to the chemist to collect my prescription. When the bread was done we got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. We did 19 miles but the track was very muddy so we were on and off road, when we arrived home H mowed the front and back lawns while I made ham and mustard sandwiches for lunch with a coffee and some little tomatoes. This afternoon I did a bit of knitting and also read some of my book. I got all my washing dry so tomorrow I will do the weeks ironing. After that I did a bit of clearing up and dusting etc and our daughter in law rang to ask if I would like some plums from her tree, yes please. So she came round on her way to her allotment with a huge tray full and they are delicious. H went upstairs to turbo and I carried on with my book. We had cheese and biscuits with pickle for lunch ( with lots of plums ) and then I got ready to go to the hairdressers. My hair now looks great. By the time I got home it was time to get on with cooking dinner. We had chicken and pasta in a white sauce with fried onions, courgette, mushrooms and broccoli, it was nice. More plums for pudding. Tomorrow we had planned to go out on our mountain bikes but it looks as if it might be a bit too wet after the rain that is forecast for overnight.

I got up at 7.15, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I hung the washing out when it was done and then read my book till our son came down. We all had a coffee and then I made some jam. It's turned out nice but I do seem to make everything sticky in the kitchen! H rode on his turbo but I didn't want to ride today, I just wanted a day off. I worked Monday and Tuesday, cycled Wednesday, worked Thursday then cycled again Friday and Saturday so I was feeling pretty tired. Today has been good though, my washing got dry and I have been sitting about most of the day. We had salad for lunch and roast chicken with  all the trimmings for  dinner. I had just finished dishing it all up when we had a power cut. It lasted all through dinner and carried on for ages so we decided to play scrabble. We were over half way through the game before the power came back on. We all enjoyed the game, it's a pity we don't get more power cuts.!!

Saturday p

H woke me up this morning at 6.30, I was fast asleep! I had my breakfast, dressed and we went shopping. After we unpacked etc we had a coffee and our son came down for his breakfast. When he had finished he and I went for a ride. The track was in a horrible mess, realy muddy! Our bikes got so muddy they had to be hosed down when we came back. While our son did that I sorted lunch, H had a bacon sandwich, I had a salad sandwich and son had a salad because he doesn't eat bread. We then all watched the 'tour' and had our baths / showers. We then got ready to go out for our evening meal. We went to 'the dial house in Reepham. First we all had a drink, H had a large white wine, son had an espresso martini and I had a gin and tonic with lots of tonic. We then went to our table and choose our starters, H and I had the crab cakes with salad and a chilli sauce while son had squid. For my main course I had the lamb with veg etc, H had pork and veg and son had coconut rice with sea bass. He and I also had a large glass of red wine. We all had ice cream for dessert, H had 2 scoops of vanilla with espresso coffee, I had a scoop of vanilla and one of chocolate and son had one vanilla and the other coconut. It was all very nice and the service couldn't be faulted. When we got home wee all had a cup of tea and while the men watch some war film I have come upstairs to write my blog. This afternoon, I forgot to say I baked son a cake. He wanted a fruit cake but doesn't eat flour so he brought home some coconut flour for me to try. I looked really weird but it's turned out ok, we all tried a bit.

Friday.

We managed to stay in bed till 7 o'clock and then H made a pot of tea while I put on a load of washing and we had our breakfast. I hung out the first load and put on a second. While H made us a coffee. I just sat and read till my second washing load was done and I hung it out. We then changed to go out on our mountain bikes.
When we went out on Saturday H stopped for a toilet break while Maria and I carried on, he said he would catch us up. Well he was ages, when I asked what took him so long he said he slipped down the bank and lost his sun glasses. He hunted for ages but no luck. ( they were ' ray bans' £ 100) !! Well since Saturday we have had loads of rain etc.but I asked H to show me where he was. He found the spot and I climbed up the bank and hunted around, I was on my way back down when I spotted a small bit of lenses poking out of the leaf mould! How lucky was that!! They are still in perfect condition. We had a nice ride, H was trying out his new bike and it went well. Our no 2 son came home this afternoon for the weekend, the drive took him ages, he said the traffic was awful. I made him his usual salad but H and I had crab sandwiches. We watched the 'tour' I had a bath and washed my hair then son went for a walk and I got dinner. We had steak, home made chips, peas, sweet corn and courgette. It was nice.

I had all this done before 12 o'clock and then I had to spend the rest of the day weeding. H had a better day, he had a phone call to say his new bike was ready for him to collect so he caught a bus to the City and rode it home. It's very nice and he is pleased with it. I don't have to go to work till Monday. We had fried chicken for dinner with courgette, carrots, broad beans and potatoes it was yummy. I hope it's dry in the morning so we can go out on our bikes and H can try his out. We plan to bike to Reepham to buy some bacon.

Wednesday

I got up at 7.15 so that was a really night for me. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. Then I sat and sew up my knitting and finished the piece I was making. It is a head band and has turned out really well. Next I got ready to go to the City with H where he bought a new bike. I didn't hang the washing out till we came back home because it looked a bit showery when we left. I bought a new backpack for work, a couple of steak pies from M & S and H bought a litre of peanut butter from Holland and Barrett. They didn't have the bike in stock that H wanted but they will have it for him tomorrow so he will have to go back tomorrow. I also bought a tv magazine so when we got home I sat and read it while H made coffee. For lunch we had a corned beef sandwich with brown sauce and then H went for his Spanish lesson. I changed and went out on my bike , I had a nice ride, 18 and a bit miles. When I got home H was back so we had another coffee, I started some more knitting, had a shower and after the ' tour' I cooked dinner. Steak and gravy pie, broad beans, carrots and new potatoes, it was nice. I have to work again tomorrow.

Tuesday

H had to wake me up at 6 this morning!! I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, made my bed , dressed, hung out my washing and went to work. I had to go with Andy which was nice because it meant I got a lift. First we had to finish pulling up the rest of the leeks and then finish pulling up and bunching a bed of spring onions. This took till 10.10 so we had our coffee break and the rest joined us with the boss bringing up the planter. We then planted the leeks which took till 12.50. After lunch I had to go to the greenhouse and pick the tomatoes. All the morning when I was outside it was dull and cloudy ( but warm ) as soon as I get inside the glasshouse the sun came out and it was sweltering!!! I was in there for the rest of the day, when I finished the tomatoes I had to fill 4 trays with peat and sow them with lettuce. I finished them by3.45 and the boss said I could go home. I was pleased because at one time I felt quite sick and dizzy. When I got home I had a cup of tea and a shower before cooking dinner, chicken curry. Our daughter and son in law came round at 6.45, he wanted something done with his bike but they couldn't fix it so he is not h p. I had a nice long chat with my daughter and we caught up with all sorts. At the moment no 2 son is on the phone talking to H so I will talk to him next and hear how his climbing went at the weekend. I have tomorrow off.

I was up at 5.40 and put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, a salad and a sandwich plus a bottle of water. After I had dressed I made the bed, hung out my washing and went to work. I had to do 20 bunches of beetroot, 50 bunches of radishes and then 140 bunches of spring onions. Andrew joined me on the onions and we had them finished just after ten. I then had to pull up leek plants for us all to plant tomorrow. It took me all the rest of the day and I haven't quite finished them. They all had to be forked up and it was hard work. When I got home I had a cup of tea and a soak in the bath before getting dinner. We had quiche, potato wedges and mushrooms it was nice. I had an orange for my pudding. H and I were going to the City tomorrow but the boss said he needs me to work because we may get thunder storms on Wednesday and won't be able to plant. I told H and he doesn't mind and said we will go another day.

Sunday, 16 July 2017

Sunday

I managed to stay in bed till 7am which was nice. I had tea and toast then a coffee. I read a chapter of my book and then I dressed etc and emptied the dishwasher. I made some chocolate chip buns to keep H going through the week, he went up to turbo and I worked in the garden for a while but my brown bin is now full so I sat in my sun lounger and listened to the Archers omnibus. I was supposed to be going out on my bike but I didn't really feel like it. When H was done i made us a fried egg sandwich and he made us a coffee. This afternoon it turned very dull so we just watched the tour and then I had a shower and cooked dinner. It was a pasta bake and was delicious. I fried an onion, mushrooms, chopped sausages, courgette, broccoli grated carrot and peas in a white sauce. It was so nice I could eat it all again.
I don't know what happened to Fridays blog, I wrote one but I can't find it! It's not in drafts, I must have accidentally deleted it. Today I have a backache and tomorrow I have to go to work, I hope it improves because at the moment I am struggling to bend down!!

Saturday, 15 July 2017

Saturday.

I got up when I heard H moving around at about 6am. I stripped the bed and put on a load of washing. We had our breakfast and then we went for our weekly shop. When we came back we unpacked and put everything away before having a coffee and a jam and cream do-nut. I hung out the washing and began on the housework. I washed the kitchen and cloakroom floor, vacuumed through and dusted everything. We had a pot noodle for lunch and then I started a new book. At 2 pm H got a phone call from his Spanish teacher to say they were just leaving. Her husband and son brought her round in the car with her bike in the boot so she could go for a bike ride along the track with H and me. We rode to Whitwell station where H bought us a coffee and then we rode back again. It was 16and a bit miles. She did well for her first time but it sure was slow. When we got back to ours H put her bike into the boot of our car and ran her home while I prepared and cooked dinner. I had a glass of wine and when H returned we had dinner. Paella and patatas bravas with strawberries for pud. We had a cup of tea and then I went up for a bath.

After that I did 28 bunches of golden beetroot and 65 bunches of purple ones. After that it was carrots and I had to have 10 dozen bunches. Andy joined me and when we had finished we went to the fennel patch and got 55 pieces. Then it was tomatoes, i thought i would get hardly any because I picked them all yesterday but I managed to get 2 full trays before hometime. When I got home I had a cup of tea nd a bath. We had burgers for dinner with eggs, peas and chips. Daughter rang, they are all ok and she was just off to her hooping class. I don't have to work again till Monday so I hope the weather stays nice.

I made the bed, dressed, sorted my bag etc and went to work. I didn't hang out the washing because it was raining when i left. I had to pick the tomatoes first, I got 6 trays and it took till 9.45. I then had an early lunch and then picked 50 bunches of beetroot and 50 bunches of radishes. After that I walked to the spring onions and began to bunch them. Andrew joined me and at around 3.15 Andy joined us as well. We managed to do 320 bunches before it was my home time. When I got home H had put the washing out for me and it's all lovely and dry again. We had a cup of tea and a bath then I cooked dinner. We had smoked haddock, jacket potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes and baked beans. We were supposed to plant more leeks today but the land was too wet and the boss couldn't get the tractor onto the land without it sinking so we are hoping to be able to plant them tomorrow.

Tuesday, 11 July 2017

Tuesday.

I got up at 6am and put on a load of washing. I had my usual breakfast then we had a coffee and I hung out the washing. I made the bed and dressed then sat down to begin reading a new book. Before I could even begin H came in and said he had just seen a weather forecast and it was going to be very wet later on so we should get ready and and get our cycle ride done in the dry before the rain arrived. So I went back upstairs and changed my clothes. We rode 33 miles but slowly because H said it was a    fat burning ride, steady and long. So we were on our bikes for over 3 hours! When we arrived back my washing was dry so I got it in straight away because it was clouding over. We had cream crackers with cheese and pickle for lunch with a coffee. We had a bath and watched the Tour de France and I cooked dinner, chicken in a casserole with potatoes, carrots, runner beans and broccoli. I forgot to say that this afternoon we popped to the chicken farm for eggs. They are lovely, big and brown. At 5 pm it finally began to rain and it poured, just what our garden needs. Tomorrow I have to work again and it will be a day in wellies.

Monday, 10 July 2017

Monday

We got up at 5.30 and I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch,a sandwich and a salad, made the bed, dressed, hung our the washing and went to work. I had to pick 20 bunches of beetroot,  25 bunches of radishes and 24 bunches of carrots. Andy came to pick all the things and me up and go down to the yard to wash and pack it all stopping on the way to pull up 250 leek plants for a customer. After we had packed everything up we had our coffee break. After that I had to weed and twist the runner beans up thier  canes till Andy came to get me to plant lettuces. When it was lunch time we walked back to the men's shed to get out of the heat for a while. I then carried on with the beans till Andy was back and then spent all the rest of the day pricking out the lettuce and fennel. There were 8 trays altogether and each tray has roughly 300 plants so that's 2.400 plants all planted  by me. Andy was hoeing etc. I had forgotten to take anything out of the freezer for dinner tonight so we just had scrambled egg. It was alright really because it's too hot to eat a huge cooked dinner. We had a cup of tea and a bath.  I don't have to go to work again till Wednesday

Sunday, 9 July 2017

Sunday.

We got up together at 5 past 6 and had our usual breakfast. H then made us a coffee. We both sat about watching tv and then H said he was going to ride a race on his turbo trainer so I got ready to go out on my mountain bike on my own. First I made the bed, stacked the dishwasher and did a bit of dusting and clearing up. I rode along the track and tried my hardest. I was so pleased with my ride, I got a ' queen of the mountain ' and several more cups. Anybody who has strava will understand what I an talking about.when I got back H had finished his ride so we both showered and had our lunch. We had a coffee and the other half of the bread stick with cheese and salad inside. After that we watched a bit of the Tour de France πŸ‡«πŸ‡· but we had to turn it off at 1pm because we had arranged to meet our daughter at the Apple Store because H was updating his phone from a 4 to a 6s. While we were there I decided to change mine. I had a 5s now I have a 7.The camera is really good and all seems to be working well but I seem to have lost my strava app. I will have to wait for no2 son to come home again to sort it out for me. Our daughter, son in law and granddaughter all came to the shop so we saw them all and had a bit of a catch up, they all look so tanned and well. When we got back home the tour was still on and had 30 k left to ride. They were coming down a steep decent and there was a horrible crash and one of the cyclists was taken off to hospital. For dinner tonight we had beef in red wine, roast potatoes, mushrooms, peas and sweet corn with millionaires cheesecake for pud. It's work for me tomorrow.

Saturday, 8 July 2017

Saturday.

We both got up at quarter to six and had toast for our breakfast. I had one slice and H had two. We then got ready and went for our weekly shop. I spent loads of money! Great.😊 When we had unpacked and put it all away H made a coffee while I hung out the washing. With our coffee we had a jam and cream do-nut! Naughty but nice. After that we got ready and went out on our bikes. It was a great ride, 23 miles off road. The weather was perfect. When we got back we had a chunk of French stick with ham and salad and another coffee. We then sat down to watch the tour but I got a bit bored so I went outside and began clearing our garden path. We have 49 paving slabs and it took me all afternoon to clear 20. The bit I have done looks nice, my flowers tend to fall over the path and it becomes very narrow but it happens so gradually you don't tend to notice it. I have come in now and have made a nice cup of tea ( we had wine earlier.) for dinner we are having pizza, grilled tomatoes and potato wedges.

Friday, 7 July 2017

Friday.

I didn't wake up till 7.45!!H had been up for an hour! I put on a load of washing and had a slice of toast for my breakfast. Then I went up and dressed, made the bed and hung out the washing. H put our sun lounges on the lawn and we sat outside with our coffee. It was so warm and humid all day, I sat as long as I could and then I spent all the rest of the day weeding and tidying up the garden. My brown garden bin was emptied this morning and now it's almost full again. I will have to wait for 2 weeks for it to be emptied again. We had a poached egg sandwich and a glass of shandy for lunch and H went into his ' pain cave ' for a short turbo ride and then watched the tour while I cut all round the edging bricks either side of the lawn. It's hard work and has given me a blister but it sure looks good. When I had done I had a shower and washed my hair then I cooked dinner. I made a nice pasta dish. It was onion, chicken, courgette, grated carrot and peas in a white sauce with pasta shells. It was tasty. We had a glass of Chardonnay with it.  Tomorrow i hope to go out on my bike.

Thursday, 6 July 2017

Thursday.

I was up at 5.40, put on my washing, toasted my bread, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I then washed, dressed etc and hung out my washing, packed my lunch and went to work. I had to do 40 bunches of beetroot, 77bunches of radishes, 45 bunches of spring onions, 12 bunches of golden beetroot, another 20 bunches of beetroot and 48 bunches of carrots. Then I had to go to the greenhouse and pick 2 trays of tomatoes, the first I have picked this year. We then had a bit of a thunderstorm and the boss said I could go home if I wanted to or I could carry on twisting the runner beans up their canes. I choose to go home. I hate that job!! However it has to be done so I expect it will be one of my jobs next week! When I got home we had a shandy and watched the cycling. For dinner we had pork slices, carrots, fried onions, broad beans and new potatoes. I had a shower and am now watching my soaps. I don't have to work again till Monday.

Wednesday, 5 July 2017

Wednesday.

I got up at 6.40 and put on a load of washing, then I had my breakfast ( toast) . I sat and knitted till the washing was done, then I hung it out. I dressed, made the bed and knitted till it was time to get ready to go out on my bike. H went for his Spanish lesson and as my left knee is rather painful for some reason I decided I would stay on the track rather than the Ringland hills ride I had planned. I put strava on my phone to record my ride as I always do, but I also have a small computer on my handle bars as backup. Well in a couple of places I went ' like the clappers ' to improve my performance and was very pleased with myself because I was sure I had broken some records only to find when I got back home that my phone hadn't recorded my ride!! I was really angry but also very disappointed. When H came back we had a cup a soup and a banana. After that we watched the' tour' but I was a bit bored with it so I out and worked in the garden for a while. When I went back in I was just in time for the last 10 k of the race. After that I had a shower and H made a pot of tea. I cooked dinner, quiche, potato wedges and grilled tomatoes. Tomorrow I have to work again.

Tuesday, 4 July 2017

Tuesday.

I was up at 5.45 and put on a load of washing. I had my breakfast, packed a couple of sandwiches for my lunch, dressed, hung out the washing and went to work. We loaded up the trailer with plants and went up the field to plant them. We did a load of greens first and then we planted all the leeks that I pulled up yesterday. The planting took till 12.15 so after that I had my lunch before I went weeding. When I had finished that I went to the greenhouse and finished twisting the tomatoes and cucumbers up their strings. I finished the day by winding the runner beans up the canes they are supposed to be climbing. When I got home we had a nice cup of tea, then I had a bath and H got our tea. We were just having scrambled egg, well nightmare! I don't know how much salt he used but it was like eating brine, it was awful. I can't stop drinking. I wouldn't have eaten it but I was so hungry. I don't ever put salt in anything!! I have got tomorrow off so that is something to look forward to.

Monday, 3 July 2017

Monday

H had to wake me up again this morning!! I don't know what's wrong with me! I put on a load of washing, had a slice of toast and a cup of tea, packed 2 cheese and lettuce sandwiches, added 4 little egg shaped tomatoes and 2 bottles of water and put them all in my bag. I dressed, hung out the washing tied up my hair, cleaned my teeth and went to work. I had to do 25 radishes, 20 beetroot, 12 carrots and join Andrew on spring onions we had to have 120 of those ( all bunches ). Andrew then went off gardening so I was on my own for the rest of the day. Andy had rung in sick this morning. I then had to weed until the boss brought me up the tractor and trailer with a fork and a tilt on it and I forked 6 rows of leeks on the leek bed for us all to plant tomorrow. I covered them up with the tilt so they didn't dry out and carried on with the weeding till 3 pm when I had to go to the greenhouse and twist the tomatoes up their strings. I have a few more left to do. When I got home I had a cup of tea and a bath then I got dinner. We had egg fried rice with the left over chicken added, it was nice. I hav to go to work again tomorrow to plant all the leeks I pulled up! But the boss said it should only be 3 days this week thank goodness.

Sunday, 2 July 2017

Sunday.

I didn't wake up till around 7.30 and I was still so tired. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I hung the washing out and we had a coffee. It was a lovely morning but the wind was strong as usual. I couldn't stop yawning it was horrible. When our son got up he asked if I wanted to do anything or go anywhere but I said no I was feeling too dopey. H rode for a couple of hours on his turbo while son and I sat in the garden. When H finished I got him a bacon butty and son and I a salad. We all watched a bit of the Tour de France but I went back out and cleared my patio and didn't go back in till there was only 24 k to go. Son went out to gather a few nettles so he could make some nettle tea!!! I cooked dinner which was roast chicken, roast white and sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, new potatoes and broad beans with gravy. It was nice. For pud we had fresh pineapple. We all tried the nettle tea and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, I could drink it. We had wine with dinner and I feel quite stuffed! This afternoon I started knitting, I haven't knitted anything for ages, I have to be in the mood. No 1 son rang this morning, they are all fine I am pleased to say. Tomorrow I have to go to work !

Saturday, 1 July 2017

Saturday

H came and woke me up at 6.20 and I was annoyed! I couldn't think why he wanted to wake me up at that time on a Sunday!! What a bonus when I found out it was Saturday!! I had an extra day. We went shopping first and when we got back we unpacked etc and had a coffee. Our son was up when we got back and he said we should go for a bike ride leaving here around 11am. I was feeling a bit under the weather but I thought it might make me feel better. Well we all started off and then H realised he had forgotten his backpack. Son and I said don't bother to go back for it because we both had spare tubes and tools but his drink was in his bag so back he went while we waited. When he got back to us we carried on and had only gone a mile when his chain snapped!!! Well thank goodness he went back for his bag because in it he had a link remover and a spare link so with a bit of fiddling he managed to fix it. We rode to Reepham where our son treated us to coffee and scones with butter and jam. They were delicious but I couldn't eat all mine, they were huge. I wrapped my leftover half in my serviette and ate it for my lunch when I got home. We went to the Dial house, the first time I have been there, it's nice. By the time we got back home I was feeling much better but I am quite tired. I got our son a salad for lunch and he went climbing. H and I sat in the garden in the sun. We opened a bottle of wine and later had a shower. For dinner I made a cottage pie which was nice and we had it with carrots and broccoli with gravy. We had strawberries for dessert.

Friday, 30 June 2017

Friday.

We managed to lay in bed till 5.45 this morning I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. When my first load of washing was done I put on a second load and we went to The butchers for some bacon. I also bought H and I a pork pie for our lunch. When we got back I hung out the second load of washing. We had a coffee and then I vacuumed throughout, dusted, washed the kitchen and toilet floors while H cleaned the bathroom. We had our pork pie which was delicious and our son arrived home. I made him a salad for his lunch and then did a bit of clearing up in the garden, the wind and rain have knocked a lot of my plants about a bit. I came in for a bath and washed my hair before making a pot of tea and then cooking dinner. Gammon steaks, homemade chips ( which were so yummy) and peas and sweet corn. Tomorrow we hope to go out on our bikes. We will be shopping in the morning as usual.

Thursday, 29 June 2017

Thursday.,

The same routine as the rest of this week and off to work. First I had to pick 50 bunches of radishes then 40 bunches of spring onions, Andy joined me just before I finished the onions because he had to take them to be washed and delivered. I then had to pick 20 bunches of golden beetroot and 50 of normal beetroot. I then had my lunch and after that I picked another 70 bunches of spring onions, 70 more radishes and then Andy joined me again and we picked 11dozen bunches of carrots. They were nice to do because after all the rain they pulled out of the ground without me having to fork them up. We took everything down to the wash area, washed and packed everything and boxed it all up ready for delivery. I just had 20 minutes left so I went to the greenhouse and twisted the cucumber plants up their strings. It was a much better day than yesterday and not such a struggle to walk as yesterday. When I got home I had a cup of tea and a bath. My daughter rang for a chat, she makes me laugh. For dinner we had fish pie with some vegetables. No 2 son is coming home tomorrow for the weekend so that's something else to look forward to.

Wednesday, 28 June 2017

Wednesday.

When I went to bed last night it was raining and still doing it when I got up this morning. After breakfast I packed my lunch, did a load of washing, made the bed, dressed and got ready for work. It was truly awful! pouring with rain till gone 10 and drizzling all day, even as I drove home. Trying to do anything in the field was a nightmare, I t was so sticky. I worked with Andy all day and we did 51 bunches of beetroot, 38 bunches of carrots and 400 bunches of spring onions we also washed and packed them. We both spent ages with our feet stuck in the mud, it pulled one of my wellies twice. I feel worn out just trying to walk. I hope the land has firmed up a bit by tomorrow because I have to go again, it's ages since I have worked 4 days in a row!! We had pork slices for dinner with new potatoes, broad beans, carrots and a fried eggs.

Tuesday, 27 June 2017

Tuesday

I got up at 6, tea and toast for breakfast. I packed 2 sandwiches for a change, ( cheese and lettuce ) I made the bed, dressed, sorted my bag and went to work. We went planting straight away and finished the first trailer load at 11.20. We all went back to the yard and I carried on with taking the shoots out of the tomatoes while the men refilled the trailer and filled a few trays for lettuce seeds till lunch time. By the time we had finished lunch it had begun to rain, we went back to the planter and carried on. The thunder was crashing and banging overhead and the rain was coming down in torrents but still we kept planting and managed to get it all done. It was almost 3pm and the boss said we could spend the last hour weeding in the greenhouse but I was wet through and frozen so I asked if I could go home, he said yes and I will only lose an hours pay. H wasn't surprised to see me! He ran me a bath right away and a nice soak soon warmed me up. When I came back downstairs my cup of tea was waiting. After that I cooked dinner, smoked haddock, a huge jacket potato and baked beans. I have to work again tomorrow and it's supposed to be wet again. I know we really need the rain but it's not nice to work in.

I had to to 50 bunches of radishes and 20 bunches of beetroot then I had to join Andy and Andrew on spring onions. We had to have 240 bunches of them and they take a while because we have to peel one skin off each onion. It's nice when you come to a patch of bigger onions because you can put less in a bunch which makes it faster. All this was done by 11.50 and I spent most of the rest of the day weeding. ( not my favourite job ). The last 20 minutes was spent nipping tomato side shoots out. I have to go again tomorrow. For dinner tonight we had a pork and apple burger, mushrooms, courgette, baked beans and eggs. It was nice.

Sunday?

I got up at 5.30 and H was already up and had made the tea. I had a slice of toast and marmalade and H went up to ride on his turbo trainer while I washed up things that we don't put in the dishwasher and tidied the kitchen. I then vacuum all downstairs and then dusted it all. At 10.20 we drove round to our daughters where we had a cup of tea and a yummy cake. We stayed for about an hour ( their little dog is so cute and funny) . When we got home we had a cheese and lettuce sandwich with radishes and a bottle of beer. I did nothing much all afternoon except read my book because as I may be working 4 days in a row I thought I would rest up!!! But I have just seen a local weather forecast and it looks as if might be really wet here on Tuesday which is the day we are supposed to be planting so I might not have to go after all. I had a shower and then cooked dinner. We had a sirloin steak, new potatoes, baby carrots and broad beans. It was nice.

Saturday.

I got up at 6.20,had my breakfast, put on a load of washing, dressed and we went shopping. I managed to get all the things into 3 bags but it cost me over £84!! When we got back I hung the washing out while H made us a coffee. I watered my outdoor pots and pulled a few weeds out of the garden. We decided to go out on our bikes, it was rather dull but pretty warm. We rode almost 23 miles but it was quite slow.H didn't want to do a fast ride because he didn't want to upset his knee before his long ride on the turbo trainer tomorrow. I left him once to try a ' segment ' and managed to get joint queen of the mountain , I will have to go again tomorrow and see if I can do it faster.we had a cheese and ham sandwich for lunch with a glass of wine. This afternoon I did a bit of clearing  up and cooked dinner. We had paella with chicken and prawns and some garlic bread. It was strawberries and cream for pudding. I rang my daughter and have arranged to pop round to see her tomorrow after she gets home from work.

Friday

We got up at 6.30 , I put on a load of washing and H put on a loaf of bread. We both had tea and toast for breakfast and later a cup of coffee. I hung my washing out and H put the bins out. I did a bit of weeding and when the bread was done we went first to the chicken farm for eggs, then to the ' kitchenary ' so I could buy a new vegetable knife, mine has disappeared! I must have thrown it out with some peelings !!  While I was there I looked at 3 tier cake stands, they have a lovely choice for hire so that's one of my problems solved. After that I popped into the chemist to collect my prescription and then we went back home and we had ham and egg sandwiches for lunch with a coffee. This afternoon I sat in the garden till it was time for me to go in and wash my hair etc. For dinner tonight we had egg fried rice with fried onions and chicken it was tasty. I have had a nice lazy day for a change.

Thursday

We both got up at 5.30, it was too not to sleep. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I dressed, hung out the washing, packed a salad for lunch with my bottles of water and went to work. I had to pick 150 bunches of radishes first then 70 bunches of beetroot and 10 bunches of golden ones. Then I joined Andrew on spring onions and we had to have 130 of them. We had a massive thunder storm with some giant hail stones but not much rain. We went down for lunch and after that I took the shoots out of 2 rows of tomatoes before the boss called me to go and prick out lettuces into the field and also 2 trays of fennel. It was home time then and my boss said I could help myself to some broad beans which I did and his wife gave me a dozen of her bantam eggs. When I got home I had a cup of tea then a bath before I cooked dinner. Spaghetti bolognese, it was very tasty. I don't have to work again till Monday but I might have to work 4 days next week. H says he doesn't want to go out on his bike tomorrow so I will have a lazy day and just do a bit of housework.

Wednesday

As I was working today I was up at 5.30 had my breakfast packed a salad for lunch, filled 3 bottles with water, made the bed and went to work. FirstI was lucky enough to get a lift up to the leek bed where Andy and I began pulling up the plants and we were joined by a student who is doing a bit of summer work. After we had pulled them all up we picked 10 dozen bunches of carrots, all this took till coffee break, I then had to bunch spring onions till one o'clock when we all went to plant the leeks. 24 rows. After that we all pulled and bunched onions till home time. When I got home I found a picture on my iPad of my granddaughters hand showing her engagement ring πŸ’ . It's beautiful and I hope they will be very happy, James is a very nice man.
For dinner tonight we had duck legs in orange sauce, new potatoes, carrots and peas. I had a nice cold shower but I am still too hot. My daughter came off her bike yesterday and has a very swollen knee thank goodness she has done nothing worse.. I expect she will have several bruises come out in the next couple of days. I have to work again tomorrow.

Tuesday

we both got up at 5am, we were just too hot to sleep. I put on a load of washing and also a loaf of bread and we had our breakfast, (toast and marmite) I hung out the washing and we had a coffee. We both sat and watched a bit of news and then I made the bed and pulled a few weeds out of the garden. I emptied the dishwasher etc. did a bit of clearing up and then sat and read my book till my loaf was cooked and then we both got ready and went out on our bikes we did 22.6 miles and it was lovely, the temperature was much better this morning, perfect for a ride. When we came back I got the washing in and made egg sandwiches for lunch with a coffee , H poured us both of wine and we sat in the jgarden. When I came in I had a nice cool shower and now I am going to prepare dinner. We are having burgers, potato wedges, grilled stuffed tomatoes, mushrooms and eggs. Tomorrow I have to work again and I think I have to go on Thursday as well. We should be pulling up the leeks from the seed bed and planting them out in the field. We have planted our first lot and these are what we call our second earlies, we will then have 2 more varieties left to plant.

Saturday

I am so happy, I have had another fabulous day, we were both up by 6 am, we had our breakfast, I stripped the bed and put it all into the washing machine and we went for our weekly shop. After we had unpacked and put everything away I hung the washing out while H made the coffee. Next he put on a loaf of bread while I watered my outdoor pots and then we got ready to go out on our bikes. I thought I had to go on my own but H changed his mind and decided to go with me, Bonus. We cycled to Heydon village where a mummified hand was on display in the Church. After I had been in to look at itwe went to the tea shop and had an iced coffee which was delicious. We then cycled home again (28.6 miles) . I got lunch, cheese and tomato roll with hula hoops and a large glass of white wine. Well I don't know if it was the strong wine or eating and drinking in the strong sun, but when I got up to come in I was really dizzy!! I was in by 3 pm it was so hot outside. I won't bother to go out again today. H is just running me a bath and when I am out I will cook dinner. Chicken lattice pie, new potatoes, carrots and broad beans. Tomorrow H is staying home but I am going to the beach with our daughter, son in law and no 2 granddaughter. I will have had 3 fabulous days in a row, I am so lucky. I have strawberries for pud tonight.

A grand day out.

We were both up just after 6, I put on a load of washing while H put on the kettle and made the tea. We had our breakfast, I hung the washing out and we did a bit of clearing up and then got ready to go out. It was pretty chilly here so we both took our wind proof jackets and at 11 we left to drive to Holt.  We parked at the railway station, bought 2 return tickets and sat in the sun till it was time for the train to leave. The train took us to Sheringham, we then found a nice fish and chip restaurant and had our lunch, cod and chips with a mug of tea, very nice. After that we walked down to the sea for a nice breath of sea air. I forgot to say that when we arrived at Holt it was really hot and sunny. We then wandered back along the high street stopping for some delicious cherries πŸ’. I went in to a nice little wool shop which was like letting me loose like a kid in a sweet shop ( I love wool ). H bought us both an enormous ice cream and we sat in the sun till it was time to catch the train πŸš‚ back to Holt and home. We just had a sandwich and our cherries for tea because we were still full from lunch.

Thursday

I was up at 5.40, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, a corned beef sandwich and a salad, hung out the washing, made the bed and got ready to go to work. First I had to go with Andy to pick 50 bunches of radishes and then we had to pick 9 dozen bunches of carrots. When they were done I had to go back to the radishes and pick another 70 bunches. When they were done I finished my weeding and had my lunch. After lunch I went to the spring onion bed and picked 82 bunches, Andy joined me and when they were done we had to do another 78 bunches of carrots. We went down to the wash area when they were done but Andrew was there to help wash and pack everything so I went to the greenhouse to nip more side shoots out of the tomatoes. I only had 15 minutes before it was my hometime. My boss said he won't need me tomorrow so H and I are planning a ' grand day out ' . For dinner tonight we had pizza and salad, it was nice.

Wednesday

I went to bed last night with a splitting headache and woke up with it this morning! I had my breakfast an took a couple of paracetamol. We had a coffee, I did a load of washing and hung it out. I worked in the garden for half an hour and then went back in to do a bit of housework before it got too hot. H was having his Spanish lesson this morning so I changed into cycle gear so I could cycle with him. As my knee was sore aswell as my head I was only going to do a few miles but when I was cycling along in the fresh air my headache disappeared and the pain in my knee got better. So I carried on and rode 24.6 miles. Half of it was on the road but up hills and the rest was off road. I biked to meet H and we rode home together. We had a fried egg sandwich for lunch and for dinner we had roast present with new potatoes, asparagus, green beans and broccoli with gravy. Our daughter rang and asked me if I would like to go to the coast with them on Sunday, yes please. We spent an hour in the garden this afternoon topping up our tans.
I have to work again tomorrow.

Tuesday, 13 June 2017

Tuesday

I woke up at 6, had a slice of toast and a cup of tea, packed my lunch ( a corned beef sandwich and a salad) , made the bed , dressed and went to work. As soon as I arrived we loaded the trailer up with plants and went to where we were planting. We planted till just after 12 when we went back to the yard, loaded up the rest of the plants and had our lunch. When I had finished mine I nipped the shoots out of the tomato plants till it was time to go back to the other end of the field and finish the planting. We finished just before 3 so I had to weed for the last hour. The boss said he will see me again on Thursday. If it's possible, I am even more tired than yesterday!! H poured me a cup of tea and when I had finished it he ran me a bath. I cooked dinner, we had fried chicken with mushrooms and egg fried rice , it wa s very tasty. Last night I came upstairs to watch my soaps and within 5 minutes I was asleep. No 2 son rang around 8.30 and woke me up, I didn't have a clue what day it was where I was etc.!!

Monday, 12 June 2017

Monday

We both got up at 5.45, I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed a corned beef sandwich and a salad for lunch with my bottle of water. I made the bed, hung out the washing and got ready to go to work. I only had to pick 25 bunches of radishes and then go on to the weeding again. So I was weeding from 8.30 to 2 pm when the planter came up the field and the tractor and trailer with a load of greens for us all to plant. It took till 3.30 so I had to go back to the weeding for the last half hour. When I got home I had a lovely cup of tea then a bath before I cooked dinner. Pork and apple burgers, sausages, eggs beans and chips. Tomorrow we are planting again.

Sunday, 11 June 2017

Sunday

I got up at 6, H had been up since just after 5 because he was going out on his bike with our son in law and another bloke. He had made the tea and sliced off the bread for my toast etc. I put a loaf of bread and before H left he got my bike out for me so I could go for a ride later. He left soon after 7 and cleaned the kitchen and then did all the ironing. I made the bed and dusted the lounge and the sun came out so I dropped everything and sat in the garden, I was still there when H came back! He had ridden 54 miles!! I decided I couldn't be bothered to go out then so I made us both a fried egg sandwich and sat back in the garden. H joined me and poured us each a glass of wine. When he went up to shower I filled a few more things out of the garden. When I had had enough sun I cams inside and watched a triathlon which was good, 4 Brits were in the first 5. For dinner we had a steak and onion pie 2ith potato wedges, carrots and minted peas, it was very tasty. I have to work tomorrow.

Saturday, 10 June 2017

Saturday

I got up at 6.20, put on a load of washing, had my breakfast, dressed and we went shopping. We unpacked and put everything away and then had a cup of coffee. I hung out the washing and then H said he didn't want to ride on the track today because it had upset his knee a bit yesterday going over the bumps. But he said we could do a road ride! So he changed my knobbly tyres for the smooth ones the bike came with and we went for a ride. H went on his best bike, it was really windy and REALLY hard work!! Our average speed was 16.9 mph. It's a long while since I have been that fast. When we got back we had a corned beef sandwich and an instant coffee. H also had a slice of cake. He poured himself a glass of wine and later he finished the bottle. We sat in the garden all afternoon in the sun. When I came in I had a shower and then cooked dinner, we had paella and some cheese and garlic bread followed by strawberries and a slice of vanilla cheesecake. H rang our son in law and has arranged to go out with him tomorrow for a ride so he has been sorting his bike out and cleaning it etc. I might go for a short ride on my own or I may just sit in the garden.

Friday, 9 June 2017

Friday

I stayed in bed till almost 7 am and when I got up I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. H put the bins out and when they had been emptied I got them in again and hung out the washing. We had a coffee and then we got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. We had a lovely ride, I really love going out on my bike. We only rode along slowly enjoying the scenery.when we got to the N D R where the track crosses it we had to ride across the hot tarmac because they were laying the top surface down. They have also put some sort of surface on the bridge that is the track going over the new road, it's going to be a steep climb and we are looking forward to using it. We had a cheese sandwich with radishes for lunch washed down with coffee. I went outside and tied up lots of my plants that had been knocked over by the gales in the week. We had a sudden shower so I came in and  poured H a glass of wine but I didn't have one because I am cutting out a few calories. For dinner tonight we had Cornish pasties, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and potato wedges.

Thursday, 8 June 2017

Thursday

It was work today so I was up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed myself a corned beef sandwich, 2 tomatoes, a slice of cake and a bottle of water. I made the bed but I left the washing for H to hang out because it was a bit dull when I left. I had to do 76 bunches of radishes, Andy helped so they were done before 9 and once again I spent the rest of the day weeding. So now I have a stiff neck again and my left knee is really puffy. When I got home I had a bath and a cup of tea then I cooked dinner. We had a fish pie with peas and sweet corn. I don't have to go any more till Monday so I hope my knee is better by then, my leg is up on 2 pillows at the moment. My boss said next week will be a busy one so I might have to work more than 2 days.

Wednesday, 7 June 2017

Wednesday

I had another good nights sleep and was up just before 7 . We had our breakfast and then a coffee.  Today H was having his Spanish lesson and I was going to cycle with him and then carry on for a longer ride, but the wind was so strong and it was pretty dull so I said I didn't want to go and he decided to go to his lesson in the car. While he was out I finished filling my garden rubbish bin and then came in and made a boiled cake which has turned out nice. When H got home I made us a coffee and some cheese and biscuits with pickle for lunch. This afternoon I sat and read my book till it was time for my shower and then I cooked dinner, pork chops, baked beans, egg and chips. I have to go to work tomorrow so I hope it's not too wet.

Tuesday, 6 June 2017

Wet windy Tuesday

It's my day off and it's been horrible, gale force winds and torrential rain. I did my usual load of washing but I haven't got it dry yet if it's still wet outside tomorrow I will have to use the tumble drier. After my breakfast ( toast ) I made the bed and did all my ironing up to date. We popped to a local B&Q because H wanted a few bits and pieces and when we got home we had a corned beef sandwich for lunch with a coffee and a choc chip bun. H did a ride on his turbo and I started a new book, then I just sat and read all afternoon. We had a shower and then my boss rang to say it will be too wet for me to weed tomorrow so now I don't have to go till Thursday. For dinner tonight we had a chicken curry and pineapple for pudding. If it's dry tomorrow I hope to go out on my bike.

Monday, 5 June 2017

Monday

I struggled to sleep again last night and was up at 5.25. I put on a load of washing and had a slice of toast and tea for my breakfast. I packed a salad for my lunch, filled a bottle with water, hung out my washing, made the bed and went to work. I just had to pick 50 bunches of radishes, which were done before 9 and then I spent the rest of the day weeding. By the time I left off at 4 I could hardly stand up! I now have a headache which I think is caused by my being upside down all day. I was glad of my cup of tea when I got home. I had a bath and cooked dinner, yesterday's leftover beef and gravy with mashed potato, green beans, carrot and broccoli. It was really windy at work today and I am worn out. I have to go again on Wednesday.

Sunday, 4 June 2017

Sunday

I didn't sleep well, I think it's because I slept so well the night before. I had toast for breakfast with a mug of tea. We also had a coffeeand H put the chairs out into the garden. I just sat out there till our son got up and then I went in. After he had finished his breakfast he and I got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. It was a bit chilly to begin with but it soon warmed up. We went to the small village of Heyden. It's the first time he has been and he was very impressed. We walked round the village green and then visited the church. It's beautiful, so old and when we looked in the visitors book there were names from all over the world. We then went to the cafe for coffee and cake before returning home. It was almost a 30 mile round trip. While we were out doing that H was on his turbo trainer but he had finished when we got back. I sorted lunch right away, H had a bacon butty while son and I had salad. We then all watched a filmH had recorded and it was the biggest load of rubbish I have ever seen. For dinner we had roast beef, roast potatoes, new ( boiled) potatoes, green beans, broccoli, carrots and gravy, the beef was delicious. We had fresh pineapple for pudding, the other 2 had a glass of wine but I am cutting out wine because I don't need all those extra calories! I had water!!☹️

Saturday, 3 June 2017

Saturday

I am amazed to say I slept till 7.50 this morning . I went to bed at 10 pm which means I had almost 10 hours sleep!!! I am always thrilled if I manage to get 6 hours as a rule.H says it's because it was much cooler last night. I had my breakfast and as soon as I was dressed we popped to Reepham to get some bacon sausages and crabs. We went in the car because we wanted to get back before no 2 son arrived. I hung out my washing and did a bit of dusting when I heard our son arrive on his motorbike. After he had unpacked, had a coffee etc we all went round to our granddaughters because it is her 27th birthday. When we arrived we had a drink, a piece of birthday cake and nibbles. We hadn't been there long when our daughter turned up with her husband and other daughter so it was great, we got to see them all, they even had the dog. By the time we got back home it was time for lunch so I went straight to the kitchen and made H a bacon sandwich and son and me a salad. When son had finished his he went to the climbing centre for the afternoon while H and I sat in the garden in the sun. After he came back and had a shower we had a bar b q which was nice.

Friday, 2 June 2017

Friday

I was up at 5 ( too hot ) I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. When we were ready we went for our weekly shop. We were home again by 8.30 and we had a coffee, I hung out the washing and we sat outside for an hour before getting stuck into some housework. H went upstairs to turbo so while he was out I washed the kitchen and toilet floors and vacuumed right through downstairs. When H was done I got fried egg sandwiches for lunch with an orange and soda to wash it down. At 1.30 we left home to go to the hairdressers calling in at the chicken farm for eggs on the way. When we got back home it was wine o'clock and then I cooked dinner. We had chicken in wine with roast potatoes and peas. We had lemon cheesecake for pudding. It was nice. We had not been home from the hairdressers long when it began to rain and then it really poured. I am pleased because we needed rain but no 2 son should be coming home tonight for the weekend and he said he was coming on his motorbike!!!

Thursday, 1 June 2017

Thursday

It's been a busy day, up at 5.40 put on a load of washing and then had toast and tea for breakfast. I packed 2 lettuce and tomato sandwiches,a bottle of water, hung out the washing, dressed and went to work. I had to walk to the radishes first and pick 110 bunches, I had almost finished when Andy turned up so he helped with the last few bunches and then took me to the broad beans where we picked 3 boxes for a customer and then he went off to do some deliveries and left me with 10 boxes to fill for another customer. When he came back I still had 3 left to do so we filled them together. We had lunch and he went off to deliver more orders and I had to deshoot the tomatoes.. ( it was hot in the greenhouse) when I had finished I walked back to the lettuce bed and pricked out 3.5 trays of lettuce before it was time for me to go home ( around 1200 plants) when I got home H had made the tea and poured me a cup. Our daughter rang she had been to Cromer for the day, she said it was lovely there. For dinner tonight we had lasagna and mushrooms it was nice. I don't have to go to work again till Monday.

Wednesday, 31 May 2017

Day off

I managed to stay in bed till 5.40 but it was so warm I just had to get up. I sat and read till I heard H moving around then I made a pot of tea. He sliced my bread off for toast and we had our breakfast. H then made us a coffee and I wrote my diary for yesterday, made the bed, and plucked my eyebrows. I sat and read a couple of chapters of my book and H said he was ready to go out on his bike so I changed and off we went. I decided to record my ride on my watch which worked perfectly well last time. Well we went to Reepham station which is about 9.5 miles, I checked my watch and it said I had ridden 3.2 miles!! I don't have a clue what went wrong but it's annoying. I recorded the rest of my ride on my phone which said I rode 26 and a bit miles but my bike computer says I rode 36 and a quarter miles. We had a cheese and lettuce sandwich for lunch and I went outside to work in the garden. I turned the oven on before I went outside and when it was heated I made some chocolate chip buns. As soon as they were done I went back outside and did my first snail collection of the year, I collected 92. I carried on weeding till H called me in and said he had run me a bath. When I had done I made a pot of tea and put a fish pie in the oven for dinner tonight.
Getting back to my ride,   H was with me so we both did the same. I thought I would be able to copy his numbers down, he was using his ' garmin' but, would you believe it? , ! That didn't load either!!  This month I have ridden 308.5 miles.

Tuesday, 30 May 2017

Tuesday

I got up at 5 and put on a load of washing,I had a bowl of ' grape nuts ' for my breakfast and packed 2 sandwiches for my lunch, one corned beef and brown sauce and hhe other lettuce with mayonnaise. I hung the washing  out , made the bed and got ready to go to work. When I arrived the boss said nobody wanted anything so we ( Andy and I ) spent all day in the greenhouse. Luckily the sun didn't come out very often but when it did it was boiling. We filled 105 trays with peat, watered them and then seeded each tray with 308 seeds. They were all greens, cauliflowers, cabbages, kale etc etc. It took all day. I feel as if I walked miles, laying them all out on pallet boards. Andy has a very swollen knee and struggles to walk. He went to hospital last week for a scan on it and should get the results this week so because of this I had to do all the walking and carrying. When I got home I had a nice mug of tea and a long soak in the bath before I cooked dinner. We had sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, new potatoes, broccoli and green beans. H had yogurt and I had an orange as usual. I have to work again on Thursday.

Monday, 29 May 2017

Bank holiday Monday.

I got up at 7 and put on a load of washing. H had made the tea and when he heard me moving about he toasted my bread, he had also emptied the dishwasher. We had some rain overnight but I don't think it was much. I did the ironing and vacuumed downstairs then we got ready to go out on our bikes. We just rode 19.5miles stopping for coffee and cake half way round. It was a lovely ride. We had cheese sandwiches for lunch with a coffee and then we went to the local garden centre for some bedding plants and lawn food. When we came back we had a g& t and had a look on line at a few holidays. We had a shower and for dinner I cooked a steak and onion pie with new potatoes, green beans, sweet corn, broccoli and asparagus. H had yogurt for pud and I had an orange. It's been a very warm day but so dull and overcast, we have seen very little sun and haven't sat in the garden at all. Tomorrow I have to go to Work.

Sunday, 28 May 2017

Sunday.

Another lovely day. We got up together and had our breakfast. We had a nice coffee next and I finished my book so I could take it with me when I bike to the crab house. The lady in there collects books and has a charity box so you can pick one up if you wish to read it. When I take one I read it and then I take it back again so she can use it again. One charity is the lifeboats and the other is meningitis. Anyway after I had finished my book I dusted downstairs, swept the kitchen and downstairs cloakroom floors and then washed them, scrubbed the basins etc. I watered my outdoor pots and at 10am I sat in the garden in the sun and listened to the Archers omnibus. When it finished I got on my bike and went for some crabs for our lunch. I went the long way round so I could get a bit of exercise and ended up riding 16.6 miles. When I got back H had finished his turbo ride so I dressed the crabs and we had lunch. H put the last day of the bike race in Italy on but the sun came out again ( it was a bit cloudy earlier) so we both sat in the garden for a while. We had a nice glass of wine and all we had for dinner was pizza and chips it's too hot for big meals! I broke my pizza cutter!! It's the third one I have snapped recently, they don't make them strong enough. We had fruit for pudding and now I am going upstairs to watch The Durrells. I have had a nice day.

Saturday

I got up at 5.30 because it was too hot to sleep. I put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea then i sat down to read till H got up. I picked up my book and he opened the door so i put my book back and we had our breakfast. I hung the washing out when it was done and at 7.10 we went to Asda for our weekly shop. We went from there to M&S because it was a ' meal deal ' week. After that we drove to B&Q for some things that H wanted and finally to Tescos for some coffee pods. It all took us over 2 hours. H made us a coffee while I unpacked and put everything away. By the time we had done all this it was past 10 o'clock so I said I didn't want to go out on my bike because by the time we had got ready it would be 11 and we wouldn't be back till quite late. I am glad we didn't go because it suddenly turned black and we had a thunder storm, so when it was over I changed into my shorts and sat in the garden. H did an hour on his turbo and when he was done we had a corned beef and brown sauce sandwich with some radishes. We also had our first strawberries of the year I only buy English ones and they are the first I have seen, they were delicious. We watched the tour of Italy, it was too hot to sit outside!! We had a shower and I cooked dinner, it was nice Mediterranean chicken and rosemary potatoes, strawberry trifle for pud. I didn't bother to go up because there was nothing I wanted to see on tv so I stayed down with H and read my book while he watched rubbish

My knee that was very painful yesterday is fine today but my backache hasn't gone yet, I don't think it's quite as bad as it was yesterday though. When H had finished his ride he cut me 2 slices of bread off and I got bacon butties for lunch with a cup of instant coffee. We both sat in the garden as long as we could bare it, I began to pull up my forget me nots tillH called me in for the tour of Italy cycle race. I got my washing in all dry and aired. I had a shower and sorted dinner. We had breadded cod, a giant jacket potato and baked beans. Tomorrow we plan to go for a bike ride so I hope the weather stays good.

Thursday

It was work again so I was up at 5.40 and had my breakfast, packed my lunch, cream crackers with marmite and some cherry tomatoes. When I got there the first thing I had to do was 105 bunches of radishes. I hadn't quite finished them when Andy came to collect them so he had to help me. I then had to weed the second early leeks, there is only 8 rows of them but they are really long rows. When I had finished I walked down to the greenhouse and snapped all the side shoots out of the tomatoes and twisted them up their strings. Next I had to plant lettuces, I planted well over a thousand. There were flat lettuce, cos, oak leaf and lollo Rossa. I also had about 150 fennel to plant. After that I had to join Andy who was planting squashes. We planted onion squash (208) harlequin (208) spaghetti squash and 2 other varieties that I can't remember the name of. When I left off I was really worn out with the work and the heat. I don't have to go again till Tuesday. When I got home I had my cup of tea and a soak in the bath. My daughter rang for a chat, she has all next week off so that will be nice. For dinner we had quiche, mushrooms, tomatoes and potato wedges. No2 son rang after dinner, he is off to Wales for the weekend to do some climbing. The forecast is good for tomorrow so I plan to do a bit of sun bathing to top up my vitamin D.

I got up at 6.30 after a poor sleep, it was too hot in the bedroom. We had our breakfast and a coffee. H went upstairs to study his Spanish and I dusted the hall and dining room before going outside to prune some of my shrubs. I made the bed and read a bit of my book till H shouted down to say he was getting ready to go out on his mountain bike so I then put my cycle gear on too. We had a lovely ride, my longest so far. 50.6 miles all off road. The weather was perfect. We rode to wroxham railway station and back.we stopped at Aylsham station for tcoffee. The trains were running and one passed us on our way there and another on the way back. They were both pretty full and each had several carriages. When we got back we had a bath and a cup of tea then I cooked dinner, Cornish pasties, new potatoes broccoli and asparagus, very nice. H had yogurt for pudding and I am about to eat an orange. Tomorrow I have to go to work.

Monday

I got up at 7 and H had been up for half an hour. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. We  had a nice cup of coffee and H cycled to the City for some coffee pods and a litre of peanut butter. Meanwhile I hung out the washing, planted up my hanging basket and then changed into my shorts and sat in the garden. When H came back he mowed the front and back lawns and they look nice. We had cheese and onion sandwiches for lunch and then both sat in the garden for a while and then we went to our daughters to pick up our frozen stuff that she kept for me when my freezer went wrong. When we got back it was wine o'clock, then I cooked dinner. We had a pasta bake, it was nice, fried onions, sausage, peas. Mushrooms, broccoli, sweet corn and a white sauce. It didn't take long to cook and I added shell pasta it was very tasty. H had yogurt for pudding and I had an orange. It's been a lovely sunny day and I have a very white watch mark.

Sunda

I got up just before 7 and put on a load of washing. H was already up and had made a pot of tea so I had a cupand a little later a coffee. I had 2 cream crackers for breakfast and when the washing was done I hung it out. I made the bed, tidied up the bed room and sat in the garden and listened to the Archers omnibus. As soon as it was over I went on a roundabout trip to the wet fish shop in Felthorpe to buy 2 crabs for our lunch. They were delicious. The shop is actually 3and a bit miles away from us but I ended up riding 17.3 miles so I had my exercise. Mind you I can't compete with H who rode over 62 miles. However he did his indoors where as I was out enjoying the fresh air. This afternoon I cleared more rubbish out of the garden, brought my nice dry washing in and had a bath. We had pork for dinner, with roast potatoes, broccoli and peas. For pud we had lemon mousse, nice and refreshing. This evening I am going to watch  ' The Durells '. There is not much on tv. No work tomorrow 😊

Saturday

I got up at 6 and H was already up and had made the tea. I had a slice of toast and marmalade, then I dressed and we went to Asda to do our weekly shop. As soon as we had unpacked and put everything away,we had a coffee and changed into our cycle gear to go for a bike ride. We thought that after all the rain the track would be too wet but in wasn't too bad at all so we rode on it all the way to Reepham. We then went along the road as far as Whitwell and back on the track and home. 23 miles. We had a corned beef sandwich with salad for lunch plus a coffee and watched the tour of Italy. As soon as it was over we got ready to go to my middle brother and sister in laws for dinner. We had a lovely evening and a  really nice meal. It was nibbles and drinks as soon as we arrived, a nice chat then dinner. It was prawn cocktail for starters then roast chicken, sausages, stuffing, potatoes, roast parsnips, green beans, carrots, gravy cabbage and cranberry sauce. For dessert we had merangue nests with raspberries and raspberry sauce, made by my brother (very nice ) and then fresh fruit salad and cream  that my sister in law had made had that was delicious too. Friday

We both got up at 6.30 and had toast and tea for breakfast. I put on a load of washing but it was pouring with rain so I didn't hang it out. We had a coffee and as it was so wet H rode a 25 mile race on his turbo trainer, he also rode 10 miles as a warm up! When he had finished and showered we went to our butchers so I could restock our freezer. I bought pies, pasties, lasagna, chops, burgers, sausages, mince, bacon, a joint of beef, chicken breasts, gammon steaks and sirloin steaks. For our lunch I bought a little pork and Stilton pie each and a cheese straw. I got a few pennies change out of £90!! At least my freezer is nice and full. We had a pork chop for dinner tonight with potatoes, green beans, brΓ³coli and asparagus, it was nice.
When I was a little girl I used to stay with my nanny a lot in each school holiday and she lived next door to the village post office and general store. ( I think my mum was glad to get rid of me so my brothers had some peace). The post mistress was a lovely lady called mrs Elsey. ( Betty) she would let me help her in the shop and I loved it. There were huge cheese's,red and white which were on a marble slab with a wire fixed to the wall that had a wooden toggle type handle and I was allowed to slice off cheese, I loved the feel of that wire slicing through the cheese and the smell. Also, their sugar came in half hundredweight sacks and I used to weigh it up into blue paper bags in pounds and half pounds. You didn't get much sugar in a half pound bag but the war was on and it was rationed. This morning my boss rang to say he has had so much rain that he won't want me on Monday so could I go Wednesday instead!!
